Documentation of scenarios: Opening of the city highway Nordtangente (NT)
The first implementation of lifeClipper2 was realized for the exhibition marking the opening of Basel’s new city highway, Nordtangente, in June 2007. The aim of this initial implementation was to illustrate the potential of Augmented Reality in the respective disciplines to the various project partners. Moreover, the fiscal feasibility and sustainability of the project was to be presented to the Swiss Confederation’s Innovation Promotion Agency, the funding agency for the project. This was of crucial importance for the approval of the second phase of the project.
Research about location
Research into the location (Novartis Campus and the neighbourhood St. Johann) preceded the development of scenarios. Documents, graphical material and film footage were sought in three archives: Staatsarchiv (archive of the state), Sandozarchiv (archive of the company Sandoz), Rheinschifffahrtsarchiv (archive of the navigation on the Rhine).
Studies
Also preceding the development of scenarios, several audiovisual studies were conducted in order to specify different approaches concerning content, design and technology.

Development of scenarios

Simulator
The scenarios were developed and programmed by means of a simulator. Once the exhibit is installed, the simulator also serves as a tool for presentation.
